In Paris, brunch has become a real weekend institution. One thing to know before you dive in: at most of the good spots, you can't book. It's first come first served, and you'll often have to queue, especially on Sundays. The trick is to get there early, right at opening. Here are my favorite brunch spots, from the most iconic to the chicest.
Holybelly, the Cult Brunch Near the Canal
You can't talk about brunch in Paris without starting with Holybelly, near the Canal Saint Martin in the 10th (there are two spots a few doors apart, on Rue Lucien Sampaix). The concept is simple, good food and good coffee served with a smile, and it works perfectly. Their pancakes have become a legend, and their eggs with the little sides are a treat. Get ready to queue on weekends, but the line moves fast and it's really worth it.
On Partage, the Coffee Focused Canteen
Another safe bet is On Partage, on Rue de Charonne in the 11th. It's a small, mostly vegetarian canteen, with a menu that changes daily and excellent specialty coffee. It's also certified 3 Écotable, the top level, which makes it one of the most environmentally responsible spots in Paris. On weekends people come for the homemade brunch, in a soft, warm atmosphere. The room is small, so again, get there early.
The Glam Brunch at the Bvlgari Hotel
And if you want to really treat yourself, head to the Bvlgari Hotel, on Avenue George V in the 8th, for its Sunday brunch. Here you switch registers entirely: brunch at Il Ristorante Niko Romito, the hotel's Michelin starred restaurant, in a palace setting with a leafy terrace in the warmer months. It's an all you can eat buffet with an extra menu on the side, and there's even a whole room dedicated just to desserts. It isn't cheap, but for a palace it's surprisingly good value, and the experience is memorable. Here you can book, and I recommend it.
